A slow start plagued the Lady Mustangs early on, but sophomore standout and reigning national player of the week, Susie French, put her team on her back in the first half to lead CM to a 40-38 lead. In the first frame, French tallied 18 points including four 3's. The Lady Mustangs shot a dismal 29% in the half.
The second half belonged to all of the Lady Mustangs, as CM came out of halftime and ripped through the Lady Moose using their pressure defense and depth. Hannah Champagne sparked CM in the early minutes of the half with several deflections and 3 steals.
The defensive intensity sparked the Lady Mustangs offensively, as they struck from inside and out. Samantha Bruce hit six 3's on her way to 24 points and Laura Soohey claimed her 2nd double-double of the season with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Gabby Foy tallied 15 points and Jasmine Ramos finished with 12 points off the bench. CM shot 50% from the floor in the 2nd half, finishing at 40% for the game.
Arreonte Lee led the Lady Moose with 27 points and 12 rebounds.
The Lady Mustangs came away with 32 steals, 30 assists, and forced 52 turnovers. CM's bench out scored the Lady Moose bench 48-8.
CM improves to 7-1 overall and 4-0 in the YSCC and hosts rival NHTI tomorrow night with a 7:30pm tipoff.
