Bonny Eagle's, Samantha Maxfield, joins Lady Mustangs

Auburn, ME - Samantha Maxfield, a shooting guard from Bonny Eagle High School, has committed to play basketball for CM this fall.  Maxfield, a SMAA Senior All-Star, was a multi-year starter for the Scots.

Head Women's Basketball Coach, Andrew Morong, on Maxfield, "This is great pickup for our program.  Samantha is full of energy, which is very contagious.  I think it's important for our program to recruit in the SMAA conference, and Sam was someone we identified before last season began as someone we really wanted to be a part of our program.  She is a perfect fit for our style of play, she has a great understanding for the game, she can shoot from well beyond the three point line, plays very physical, and can create her own shot."

He continued, "We were able to watch Sam play on campus, during our annual high school holiday tournament, and that sealed the deal as far as our interest was concerned.  Whenever we watched her play, her energy and enthusiasm were always high, even during the stretch of games she sat out with an injury.  With some hard work this off-season, Sam is going to suprise a lot of people this winter."

According to Maxfield, "I chose CM because I felt so welcomed when I was on campus, and I really felt like I clicked with the players and coaches.  I was really impressed with the campus, and how it always seems to be growing.  It is very clear that everyone at CM will go out of their way to help students succeed, and this impressed me the most.  As far as basketball goes, the game will be faster and I know there are high expectations and everything is taken seriously, it is exactly what I have been waiting for.  I know this is going to be a great experience, and I look forward to working hard towards my basketball, academic, and career goals."
