Samantha Burke of Lincoln Academy Commits to Lady Mustangs

Auburn, ME - Samantha Burke, a 6'2" center from Lincoln Academy, has committed to attend and play women's basketball at CM in the fall.  Burke was a crucial member of her high school team's run to the Class B Regional Final.

Head Women's Basketball Coach, Andrew Morong, on Burke's commitment, "This is extremely exciting for our program.  Not too long ago we had Laura Soohey, another post player from Lincoln Academy, and we are excited that Sam is following in her footsteps.  Sam will bring height and strength in the paint for us, which was a big need we needed to address in this recruiting class.  She will be able to alter shots and provide a presence in the middle that will create tough matchups.  With some hard work in the off season, Sam will be able to make an immediate impact for us.  We are thrilled about this commitment, not just because of Sam's potential impact on the court, but because of the type of young woman she is.  She has a contagious personality, she's very determined, and will develop into a great leader here at CM."

Burke, on her decision to attend CM, "I chose CM because it is an all-around great school.  The classes I was able to peek in on looked great, and the people I met while on my tour were very welcoming.  I like the size of the campus, it is not too spread out. The dorms, weight room, and court are all so close which is great, but most importantly I liked the family atmosphere."

On playing at the next level, "I think playing college basketball will definitely challenge me, but I am ready for it, because it will help me grow.  It is obviously going to be more competitive than high school, and I know I will have to work harder than I ever have.  I am really looking forward to meeting and bonding with my new family at CM.  I'm 6'2" so I will be providing some height to the team, but I will also bring my determination and be ready to respond to adversity."
