Auburn, ME - Coming off a 20-10 campaign this winter, Head Women's Basketball Coach, Andrew Morong, has announced the team award winners for the 2015-16 season.
Most Valuable Player - Alex Rowe (South Paris, ME)
In addition to being named a Yankee Conference All-Star, Rowe was also voted a USCAA 2nd Team All-American, after averaging a team-high 11.7 points and 7 rebounds per game. Rowe nearly doubled her season averages from her freshman campaign, and started every game she played in this.
Most Improved Player - Mikayla Yanez (Lisbon, ME)
Barely seeing playing time in the first half of the season, averaged nearly 16 minutes per game in the 2nd semester. Yanez played a career-high 32 minutes in a 1/23/16 win over Great Bay CC.
Captain's Award - Nicole Hamblin (Fayette, ME)
Chosen by captains, Rowe & Welch, the freshman point guard started 26 of 29 games while averaging 9 points, 6 rebounds, 4.4 assists, and 2.7 steals per game. Hamblin recorded the first Mustang triple-double since 2014, when she tallied 13 points, 13 rebounds, and 13 assists @ UMPI.
Lady Mustang Award - Seve Deery-Deraps (Rangeley, ME)
Deery-Deraps was the only Mustang to play in all 30 games this past season while making 28 starts. Second on the team in scoring (10 ppg), she scored in double-figured 15 times. Led the team in 3-pointers made, 3pt FG%, FT%, and 2nd on the team in points scored.
Ms. CM Basketball - Macy Welch (North Anson, ME)
For her dedication to the women's basketball program over her 2 years, Welch was honored with the team's most prestigous award. Welch started 11 games this past season, scoring in double-figures 7 times. Battling nagging knee issues, Welch
