Women's Basketball Adds Spruce Mountains' Moore

Auburn, ME - Rylee Moore of Spruce Mountain High School has committed to attend CM next year to play women's basketball and study Life Sciences.  Moore, a National Honor Society member, has been on the Honor Roll all 4 years at Spruce Mountain, and is ranked in the Top 10 of her graduating class.  She was also a KVAC All-Academic Team member for both soccer and basketball.

In addition to her academic awards, Moore was also named her teams Most Improved Player as a junior, and the teams Coaches Award winner as a senior.  She was named a Honorable Mention All-Star by the KVAC.

Spruce Mountain Girls Varsity Basketball Coach, Chris Bessey, on Moore, "You will be hard pressed to find someone as enjoyable to coach as Rylee.  She does whatever is asked of her.  She can play any post defense you want her to play, can draw the charge, and boxes out very well."

According to Moore, "I chose CM because they offered the courses that are required for my career choice, they will all transfer, and it is more financially suitable for me.  I love that all the buildings are connected, and was really impressed with all the advanced technology throughout the labs and entire campus.  It is also nice that all of the basketball girls live together in the dorms."

She continued, "I think the basketball will be more physical, aggressive, and fast paced than I am used to.  I will bring a strong work ethic and defensive skills to the team next year."

Head Women's Basketball Coach, Andrew Morong, "Rylee is going to complement our front court so nicely.  Having a post, or any player for that matter, willing to sacrifice their body and take charges on a consistent basis is a huge advantage. While buying into our strength and conditioning program, and by working with our assistant coaches on a daily basis, I believe she will blossom as a player. At the end of the day, it has to be about the academics, and Rylee is really setting herself up to be successful.  Our Life Sciences program is tremendous, and challenging, I am excited for her to flourish."
