Lady Mustangs grind out win over UMA

Auburn, ME - It wasn't pretty, but no one said wins have to be.  An early 10-point 1st quarter lead turned into a 1-point deficit entering the 4th quarter, but the constant pressure defense finally turned the tide as CM pulled away for the 53-44 win over the Moose.

Jenny Schlim (Nottingham, NH) asserted herself in the 2nd half on her way to a game-high 18 points.  The loan scorer in double-figures, Schlim refused to let the Lady Mustangs loose, putting the team on her back time and time again.  Eraleena Gethers-Hairston (Auburn, ME) pulled down a game-high 14 rebounds, and in her first game back from injury, Brooke Reynolds (Poland, ME) recorded 9 points, 5 rebounds, 2 steals, and 2 blocks.

CM could not pull away from the Moose because of dismal shooting.  The Lady Mustangs shot 26.9% from the floor and only 5% (1-20) from the 3pt line.  Helping them overcome the poor shooting was the relentless pressure defense which forced 29 UMA turnovers.

Jamie Plummer led the Moose with 17 points and 12 rebounds.

With the win CM improves to 22-1 on the year and 9-0 in the Yankee Conference.  They will be back in action Wednesday, when they travel to Unity College to take on the Rams.
