Women's Basketball: Harrington coaches in Spain

Auburn, ME - Women's basketball sophomore guard, Ellie Harrington, traveled to Sant Guim de Freixenet, Spain this summer to coach at the Roger Grimau Basketball Camp.  Here's what she had to say:

"On the second through the ninth July I went to Sant Guim de Freixenet, near Barcelona in Spain to be a coach at the Roger Grimau Basketball Camp. This is a residential camp for children aged 6 to 16. Roger is very famous in Europe as he was the captain of Barcelona when they won the Euroleague.

This is the third year running that I have been to the camp. It lasts a week and as well as lots of basketball drills and games.  We also get to go swimming, hike trails, teach an English class each day, and spend the evenings doing activities.

Throughout the camp we have lots of fun but it is also a tiring week with so many lively children to look after day and night. I also get to try and get a tan in the sun and pick up a few more words of Catalan, the local language. The reason I go back every year is because I build great bonds with the children within the time that I am there. It also takes me out of my comfort zone, it's a great challenge but a great experience too. I am hoping to be asked back again next year."
