Lady Mustangs stampede UNB - Saint John in 2nd half

Auburn, ME - It took two and a half quarters for CM to get going, but once they did, they hit the Seawolves with a flurry of forced turnovers, deep 3-balls, and transition buckets to pull away for the 84-63 victory.  Up only 6 at the half, their lead quickly diminished in the early stages of the 3rd quarter.  Then, the game broke open.  

Bri Mulherin hit a deep three, which was followed by 3 consecutive Cagney O'Brien lay-ups through traffic to end the 3rd quarter, and the Lady Mustangs were off and running.  After a pair of Natalie Thurber 3's, the lead ballooned to 31-points before with just 4-minutes to play in the game.  CM coasted from there, putting up 53 points in the 2nd half.

Alex Bessey dominated from inside and out, connecting on three 3's, finishing with 19 points and 5 steals.  Brooke Reynolds was Brooke Reynolds - relentless on defense and on the boards, finishing with 10 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals.  Jordyn Reynolds was the 3rd Lady Mustang in double-figures, recording a double-double in her first collegiate game, to the tune of 13 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 steals.

Jane Lester and Thurber each hit for 9 points off the bench, with Thurber also recording 4 steals.

In all, CM forced 33 turnovers, only committing 14 themselves, while dishing out 18 assists and sniping 19 steals.

Kelsey Simon led the UNB - St. John with 13 points.

With the in CM improves to 1-0 on the year, and will take on Champlain-St. Lawrence tomorrow (Sunday) afternoon at 2:00pm.
