Lady Mustangs stampede Massasoit

Brockton, MA - CM jumped out early and led from the opening tip to the final horn, defeating the Warriors of Massasoit Community College, 87-58.  A 33-point scoring outburst in the 2nd quarter, ballooned the Lady Mustang lead to 51-22 at the half.  Pushing the lead to 38 in the 3rd, CM just coasted from there.

The Reynolds sisters each recorded a double-double; Jordyn Reynolds dominated the game with 19 points, 12 rebounds, and 7 blocks, while Brooke Reynolds fill the stat sheet with 12 points, 11 rebounds, 6 steals, and 4 assists.  They did this while only combining to play 33 total minutes (Jordyn - 18, Brooke 15).  Kristina Blais was the 3rd starter in double-figures, playing 17-mintues while hitting for 10 points and 6 assists.

Cagney O'Brien notched 10 of her own points, while Jane Lester finished with 12 points and 6 rebounds.

The relentless pressure of the Lady Mustangs was too much for the Warriors.  CM recorded 25 steals, which led to some easy baskets in transition, helping them finish with 47.7% shooting from the floor.  They also dished out 22 assists and hauled down 19 offensive rebounds.

Head Coach, Andrew Morong, on the win, "This was a really good team win.  Everyone who went into the game made an impact on both ends of the court.  I was very please with Rylee and Hayley with the willingness to compete and do the little things.  It was also great to see Cagney look for her offense more, and what can I say about Jordyn and Brooke?  They just flat out dominated.  They both could have finished with twenty-plus points and twenty-plus rebounds, and probably a triple-double a piece, if we had given them another rotation or two.  Jumping out to the big lead was crucial, as we move into our third game in three days, it's important we get everyone minutes so we can have fresh legs when we need them."

Sierra Johnson led Massasoit with 18 points, while her sister, Sienna finished with 10.

With the win CM improves to 16-1 overall.  They will be back in action tomorrow afternoon when the host the Knights of Berkeley College (NY).  This will be the Lady Mustangs 3rd game in 3 days.
