Albany, NY - CM had to shake off the effects of their big win over #6 Villa Maria the night before, but once they did, the flood gates opened against the Albany College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences. Struggling with consistency early-on, the Mustangs used their depth to force the tempo, a pace which flustered the Panthers. Up 21-7 after the first quarter, it was smooth sailing for the Lady Mustangs from there, as they finished off ACPHS 76-48 to win their 18th straight game.
Brooke Reynolds was dominant once again, finishing with 14 points, 7 rebounds, 7 steals, and 5 assists in just 21-minutes of action. Natalie Thurber continued her scoring rush, recording a team-high 19 points while hitting four 3's. Cagney O'Brien played aggressive, finding seams against the Panthers' zone defense, finishing with 11 points.
All-American, Dannie Griffin, led the Panthers recording game-highs of 21 points and 19 rebounds. Griffin also scored her 1,000th career point in the 1st quarter of the game.
CM out-rebounded ACPHS 54-38 while forcing 36 turnovers, 24 of which were steals.
Head Women's Basketball Coach, Andrew Morong, on the victory, "We received contributions from many of our players this weekend, and we are really starting to figure out how to play with one another, regardless of who is on the floor. I cannot say enough about how dominant Brooke (Reynolds) was this weekend. It seemed like she impacted every play, on both sides of the ball, every time she was on the court; she was everywhere. Our team defense, both in the full and half court, have taken strides over the last several weeks, which we hope to continue going into the Yankee Conference Tournament. These were two great wins, but we've already put them behind us, and have started prepping for our next big game on Tuesday."
With the win CM improves to 20-1 overall, and remain atop the YSCC and USCAA standings. They will be back in action on Tuesday when they host the Moose of UMaine-Augusta.
