Women's Basketball sinks Clippers

Auburn, ME - After shaking off a pesky Machias run in the first quarter, the Lady Mustangs out-scored the Clippers 23-13 in the second to take control.  It was smooth sailing from there, as CM out-scored the visitors 43-25 in the second half for the 82-53 win.  All 15 Lady Mustangs saw action, with 12 of them playing at least 10-minutes and 12 of them finding the scoring column.

Alex Bessey (Jay, ME) led the charge with 13 points, 7 assists, and 3 steals, dominating the Clippers by relenetlessly pushing the tempo.  Kristen Huntress (Harrison, ME) and Kristina Blais (Lewiston, ME) eached tallied 11 points, with Huntress connecting on three long balls.  Natalie Thurber (Wells, ME) was the last player in double figures, connecting for 10 points.

Linda Riley led Machias with 16 points and 13 rebounds.

The Lady Mustangs forced 39 turnovers, 23 of which were steals.

With the win CM improves to 25-1 overall and 15-0 in the Yankee Conference, running their win streak to 23 games.  They will be back in action Monday evening when they play host to the Seawolves of Southern Maine Community College in their final regular season game.
