Women's Basketball receives first international commitment of 2018

Auburn, ME - Head Women's Basketball Coach, Andrew Morong, is pleased to announce that Elena Tool, a 5'11" forward from Tilburg, Netherlands has committed to join the Lady Mustangs this fall.  Tool will study Graphic Communications at CM.

Tool on her commitment to CM, "Academically and athletically, the programs that CM offers were extremely appealing to me.  Smaller class sizes and the family feeling are things that schools in the Netherlands do not have.  I liked the Graphic Communications classrooms the most. At my current school we do not get opportunities to work with that kind of technology ever, let alone on a daily basis.  I currently play in the highest under 20 division in the Netherlands, but basketball here is very different than basketball in the USA.  There will be some adjusting, but I am looking forward to arriving at CM in mid-August to start formal training.  Basketball-wise I am really looking forward to the intense practices every week and the weight lifting.  Off the court I am looking forward to immersing myself in the Graphic Communications program and spending time with my new teammates!"

According to Coach Morong, "Elena is a very physical post player with an arsenal of finishing moves.  She is not scared to bang bodies inside, but she also has a soft touch around the rim.  She will bring a European style of basketball with her which I am very excited to embrace.  She sets great ball screens, and can pop to the perimeter and knock down shots.  Her physical presence and versatility will not only make her a tough match-up for our opponents, but for our other post players in practice as well.  Elena is going to make our group of dynamic post players even better.  We are so happy that Elena and her mother were able to visit during the season.  She was able to watch a couple of games, practices, sit in on classes, and really see what CM is all about.  She is a great young woman, who is a joy to be around and fits everything that we do here."

Tool joins the 2018 recruiting class which contains, Sierra Wallace (Morse HS), Ahna McCusker (Coe-Brown (NH)), and Kasie Maloney (Concord (NH)).
