Bengals outpace Mustangs in Fort Kent

Fort Kent, ME - A dismal first quarter, that saw CM get outscored 19-6, set the tone for the entire game, as the University of Maine Fort Kent held on for the 70-61 victory. The Bengals led from start to finish, and for the most part had no issues with the Mustang pressure defense.

Tajaheray McMahan led the Bengals with 20 points, 6 steals, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists, while Trinity Washington flirted with a triple-double with 15 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists.

The Mustangs were paced by Brooke Reynolds (Poland, ME) who tallied 14 points and a career-high 18 rebounds to go along with 5 steals and 4 assists. Ahna McCusker (Barrington, NH) came off the bench to record her first career double-double with career-highs of 16 points and 10 rebounds. Kristen Huntress (Harrison, ME) netted 11 points which included three triples.

According to Coach Morong, "We did not show up ready to play or with an ounce of our mental toughness, and that is on me. Clearly I did not do what I needed to do to have our women prepared for such a quality opponent. Hats off to Fort Kent, they put the pedal to the floor, and did not let up. Their backcourt was absolutely outstanding. Hopefully this will provide the necessary wake-up call for us."

With the loss CM drops to 7-1 on the year and remain at 4-0 in the Yankee Small College Conference. They will be back in action, after Thanksgiving break, when they travel to a weekend double-header. They will play Friday, November 30th against the Panthers of the Albany College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences (Albany, NY) before heading to Amherst, MA to take on Hampshire College on Saturday, December 1st.
