Women's Basketball cruises past Fighting Saints

Auburn, ME - In their first home game since December 15th, the Lady Mustangs jumped out to an early lead and never look back, defeating the College of St. Joseph's (VT), 75-51. The game lacked flow, and an inconsistent CM attack stalled the typical relentless pressure and tempo of the Mustangs.

Alex Bessey (Jay, ME) scored a game-high 17 points, while Brooke Reynold (Poland, ME) shot 7 for 11 from the floor finishing with 16 points, 7 steals, and 5 rebounds. Natalie Thurber (Wells, ME) was the only other Lady Mustang in double-figures, hitting for 10 points.

Elena Tool (Tilburg, Netherlands) and Ahna McCusker (Barrington, NH) played solid off the bench for CM, while Rebecca Davila (El Paso, TX) hit three 3's, contributing 9 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals.

The loss snapped a 5-game win streak for the Fighting Saints who were led by Alayah Sweeney with 15 points.

With the win CM improves 16-0 overall while remaining 10-0 in the Yankee Conference. They will be back in action on Monday when they host UMaine-Augusta in a crucial YSCC match-up.
