Oak Hill's Nadeau joining Lady Mustangs

Auburn, ME - Oak Hill High School senior standout, Abby Nadeau, has committed to join the women's basketball program. Nadeau, a 5'9" do-it-all player for the Raiders was a 4-year varsity starter who progressively got better throughout her career. The two-year captain earned Mountain Valley Conference (MVC) All-Conference Honorable Mention as a sophomore, before making MVC 1st Team All-Conference as a junior and a senior. As a senior, Nadeau was also selected as a Maine McDonald's Senior All-Star. Most recently, she was named the Kennebec Journal Girls Basketball Player of the Year.

Off the court, Nadeau received MVC All-Academic honors, while also being named to Oak Hill's National Honor Society. Additionally, she is also an active member of the Olympia Snowe Women's Leadership Institute.

On choosing CM, Nadeau said, "I chose to attend CMCC is because of its size and the diversity within its community. In addition, not only is it close to home, but CMCC offers an amazing and challenging academic experience with low tuition, which is not something very common in higher education. Being a student at a high school with an enrollment of roughly 400 students, I felt my transition to college would be more successful on a smaller campus. I know that I have a strong interest in science and health, however I do not have a direct career path at this time. CMCC's Life Science program will allow me to earn a degree that can be used towards many health science careers, such as nursing, occupational therapy, physical therapy and others. I am very excited to attend a college with a low student-professor ratio. I look forward to knowing my instructors on a personal level and forming relationships that will help me be a successful student."

She added, "The dorms are in close proximity to the classrooms, and I like the fact that while the school is just minutes away from restaurants and shopping, it is actually tucked away in a gorgeous setting, from the busyness of the city. The classrooms, especially the Learning Commons, are equipped with the latest technology. I am interested in a health science career, so being able to walk into the Learning Commons and work with a digital cadaver is amazing, and I would not be able to do that at any other college in the state."

"Athletically, I am excited to be pushed out of my comfort zone, and I am curious to learn more about the game I love so much. I hope my drive and enthusiasm can immediately and positively impact our team. Not only do I thrive when I am being pushed, but I also work hard at pushing my teammates to become better everyday. I genuinely enjoy watching my teammates find success."

Head Women's Basketball Coach, Andrew Morong on Nadeau's commitment, "I have been excited to coach Abby since we first saw her play a couple of years ago. She is a tireless worker who will do whatever it takes for the team to win. She has been working hard at increasing her versatility and it showed during her senior year. In our program we discuss what it means to be relentless quite frequently, and Abby embodies it - we hope that her mind-set is contagious. Beyond the court, Abby may be one of the most genuine people I have ever met. We are thrilled to be adding her to our program, and look forward to watching her progress as a student-athletes over the next two years."
