Women's Basketball adds Maine's Big East Conference Player of the Year to recruiting class

Auburn, ME - Head Women's Basketball Coach, Andrew Morong, is pleased to announce the commitment of Foxcroft Academy standout, Makenzie Beaudry. A 5'9" forward and stellar four-sport student-athlete for the Ponies, Beaudry is coming off an incredible individual season. She averaged 16.6 points, 14.8 rebounds, and 2.6 steals per game, earning her Maine's Big East Conference Player of the Year and 1st Team All-Conference Accolades.

Beaudry was a 2-year captain for the Ponies, and was selected as a Maine McDonald's Senior All-Star as one of the state's top seniors. In addition to being a 4-year Honors student at Foxcroft Academy, Beaudry earned numerous accolades in field hockey and softball as well.

According to Beaudry, "Coming from a relatively small school, having small class sizes was something very important to me. CM offers me not only the class and campus size I was looking for, but a challenging academic experience as well. I know I want to go into the health or science fields, and the academic programming at the college allows me to figure it out. This is a really exciting opportunity for me. In high school, I am spread pretty thin, participating in four sports throughout the year. It will be a nice change of pace to be able to focus on the one sport I truly love. The strength and conditioning piece, especially in the off-season, will be something very new for me, and I am excited to get going. I think my game will develop even further as I commit to the weight room and start playing against girls that are just as good, if not significantly better than me, on a daily basis in practice. The challenge is enticing, and I cannot wait for it."

Coach Morong on Beaudry's commitment, "Makenzie has excelled at a very high level as a four-sport student-athlete, and that's something that was very attractive to us. Individually, Makenzie had an incredible basketball season for Foxcroft. Her stat line was just ridiculous, but as impressive as that was, that is not what necessarily what caught our eye," Morong said. "She genuinely enjoys working hard and competing. The athleticism she possesses for her size should help her make a serious impact next year. As she expands her versatility for the college game and spends the off-season working through our strength and conditioning program, she should really blossom. She is an amazing young woman who fits in with everything we do here at CM and we are thrilled she will be joining us this fall."

Beaudry joins a loaded recruiting class for the Lady Mustangs who look to continue their national-level success during the 2019-2020 season.
