Skowhegan's Everett joining Lady Mustangs

Auburn, ME - Alyssa Everett, a 5'11" forward from Skowhegan Area High School will be joining the Lady Mustangs in the fall. Everett helped lead Skowhegan girls basketball to an undefeated regular season (18-0) and a second straight appearance in the Class A Northern Maine Championship. A three sport varsity athlete (soccer, basketball, softball), Everett was also an active member of her school beyond sports. She served on the prom committee, as Class Treasurer, won the Principal's Award for Most School Spirit, and won the Somerset Career & Technical Center Leadership Award twice.

Everett on her commitment, "CM offers such a great education and is incredibly affordable. I get to stay relatively close to home, but also enjoy dorm life and continue the sport I love. When I visited campus, everyone there was so friendly and welcoming. It really felt like a family, which I think is probably rare at most places. Coach Morong is not a sit back and watch type of coach. He is not going to let me just play and go through the motions. I am looking forward to being pushed and held to extremely high standards. I love the style of basketball CM plays. It reminds me of what we did at Skowhegan, only faster and more intense. The pace of the game and unselfishness of the team is going to make it so fun. I look forward to building my relationship with coach and all of the players, and think I can bring a lot to the table to help us win."

Head Women's Basketball Coach, Andrew Morong, on Everett, "Alyssa may be the steal of our recruiting class. She is tall, long, athletic, and versatile. I cannot think of a specific position or title for her, because she can do so many different things on both sides of the ball. She has played for a demanding and extremely successful coach in Mike Leblanc, which I am sure will make her adjustment to the collegiate level a little smoother than most. I think Alyssa is a great fit for us, both on and off the court. Her teammates will be naturally drawn to her, and our fans will certainly love watching her play."

Everett joins a giant recruiting class for the Mustangs which includes, Abby Nadeau (Oak Hill HS), Makenzie Beaudry (Foxcroft Academy), Kylee Joyce (Narraguagus Jr-Sr HS), India Morrell (UK), Shemilia Johnson (Germany), Eliza Brault (Spaulding HS - NH), Lexus Lee (Coconut Creek HS - FL), Tatiana Saint-Louis (Palm Beach Gardens HS - FL), and Ely Rodriguez (Doral Academy - FL).
