Lady Mustangs shake Seawolves, win opener

Auburn, ME - After a back and forth first half, which saw the Mustangs only leading UNB - Saint John by 1, CM exploded in the 2nd half to pull away for the 84-64 win. CM scored just 30 points in the first half, but erupted for 31 points in the 3rd quarter, putting the game out of reach.

Natalie Thurber (Wells, ME) scored a career-high 29 points while hitting five 3's and connecting on all 6 of her free throws. First-year, Makenzie Beaudry (Dover Foxcroft, ME) recorded her first career double-double in her first collegiate game, tallying 13 points (6 of 9 shooting) and ripping down a game-high 11 rebounds. Chandler True (Naples, ME) hit for 12 points while Elena Tool (Tilburg, Netherlands) netted 10.

Rebecca Davila (El Paso, TX) dished out a game-high 8 assists while collecting a game-high 4 steals.

Kathryn Magee led the Seawolves with 17 points.

The Mustangs forced 35 turnovers while collecting 20 steals and out-rebounding UNB - Saint John by +10. They also dished out 23 assists on 31 made baskets.

With the win CM improves to 1-0 on the year and will be back in action tomorrow, Sunday, October 27th at 2:00pm vs. Champlain-St. Lawrence. The game can be watched LIVE on the CMCC Athletics Facebook page.
