Women's Basketball inks international recruit

Auburn, ME - Head Women's Basketball Coach, Andrew Morong, is please to announce the signing of Luna Love, a 5'6" point guard from Zwolle, Netherlands. Up until last year, Love was part of the Netherlands U16 National Team. She currently plays for the U20 honor division (highest national division) for Landstede Basketball in her home country.

Love on her commitment, "I chose to commit to Central Maine because right from the start I felt as though it would give me the best chance at reaching my goals on and off the court. The facilities are amazing, and everything felt so professional and extremely welcoming at the same time. It has always been a dream of mine to play college basketball in the US, so I am really looking forward to this adventure. I am also looking forward to playing for Coach Morong; he is very passionate about the CM program and really wants what is best for each individual player. I am also very excited because I love how the team plays. They are relentless on defense, and unselfish on offense - the speed of play is something I should excel at. In Holland, people like basketball, in the US and especially at Central Maine, they love it."

According to Coach Morong, "Luna is a tenacious floor general, and a natural leader at the point. She is a blue-collar player that does not have an off switch. Needless to say, she should fit in very well! We love her confidence and her ability to make her teammates better. Off the court, she should also fit in nicely. As serious and focused as she is on the basketball court, Luna is the type of person that people want to be around. We are so excited that she is joining us!"

Love, who currently volunteers her time coaching a U14 junior girls team, will graduate this June. She will study in the Physical Fitness Specialist program at CMCC.
