Mustangs open YSCC play with easy win over GBCC

Portsmouth, NH - All 15 Mustangs who suited up for the game played at least 10-minutes, and 14 found the scoring column, on their way to an easy 86-13 win over Great Bay Community College. The Mustangs jumped out to a 27-3 lead after the first quarter and never looked back, as they overhwelmed the undermanned Herons.

Leata Te Nana-Williams (Auckland, New Zealand) led all-scorers with 12 points while also recording 5 rebounds and 5 steals. Kali Thompson (Waterville, ME) posted her first career double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Eliza Brault (Ossipee, NH), playing in her home state, scored 10 points to go along with 6 rebounds and 4 steals.

None of the Mustangs played more than 15-minutes in the contest, allowing a lot of players to get some much needed in-game reps. Out of character, CM did not press in the contest, but instead focused on their half-court defense and execution.

With the win CM improves to 2-0 overall and 1-0 in the Yankee Conference. They will be back in action this weekend with a road game at Massasoit CC (Brockton, MA) on Saturday, followed by a home game against Springfield Technical CC on Sunday at 2pm.
