Mustangs rout Bobcats, advance to 5th straight YSCC Championship

Auburn, ME - In the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) semifinal game, the top-seeded Mustangs wasted little time putting away the fifth seeded Paul Smith's College Bobcats. CM jumped out to a 35-8 first quarter lead and cruised to a 93-39 blowout win. The victory marks the fifth straight season in which the Mustangs have advanced to the YSCC Championship game.

Emily Strachan (Lewiston, ME) paced four Mustangs in double-figures. She connected on 5 of 7 triples, and finished with 24 points and 4 assists, playing 0 minutes in the fourth quarter. Eliza Brault (Ossipee, NH) and Kali Thompson (Waterville, ME) each finished with 12 points and 7 rebounds; Thompson also added 4 steals. Cyla Moore (West Palm Beach, FL) tallied 11 points and 6 rebounds off the bench for the Mustangs.

The stifling defense of the Mustangs was too much for the Bobcats, who turned the ball over 33 times - 17 by CM steals. The Mustangs held YSCC 1st Team All-Star, Jordan Louis, to just 11 points, while forcing her into 11 turnovers. CM also dominated the boards to the tune of a 51-19 advantage. 

With the win the Mustangs improve to 24-3 on the year and will be back in action on Saturday, February 26th. They will host the YSCC Championship Game in Auburn, against Southern Maine Community College. Tip-off time is to be determined. Fans are allowed, but must wear a mask. Proof of vaccination is NOT required.
