Women's Lacrosse Announces Captains

Head Women's Lacrosse Coach, Sara Morris, is pleased to announce the selection of team captains for the 2014 inaugural season.  The choice had been very clear since the fall. Emily Paione (Lewiston, ME), Brianna Lajoie (Lewiston, ME) and Amanda Hanning (Hebron, ME) have been selected to lead the Lady Mustangs in their first season.

Paione was the first commitment the lacrosse program had. Securing her was vitally important.  She had a reputation in the KVAC as being a dominant and versatile defensive player.  She has the type of field presence any team would want from a player.  Lajoie only started playing her senior year of high school, but quickly became a defensive stand out.  Her ability to communicate and "coach on the field" is crucially important in starting a program and directing new players.  Hanning comes with a lot of experience on the offensive end, being CM's go-to player to get the attack started.  Her speed, stick skills and shot selection will be very disruptive for other teams.

According to Coach Morris, "These three players have shown a strong amount of dedication, commitment and excitement about starting the lacrosse program at Central Maine.  They have shown up to every off season and preseason workout and gone out of their way to teach the new players skills. With these three skilled and outgoing women leading the way, the inaugural season is bound to be exciting!"
