CM hosted Yankee Conference powerhouse, UMaine-Machias on Saturday in their first conference home game.  The Clippers ripped off 6 unanswered goals, winning 6-1 in today's match-up.  While the Mustangs were disappointed to lose their third consecutive game, they remained positive that they played their best game of the season and they scored their first goal of the season.

Less than 5-minutes into the game, Brianna Lajoie (Lewiston, ME) scored a goal off from a 35-yard direct kick; this not only marked the first goal of the season for CM, but also the first lead they have ever had over Machias.  The 1-0 lead lasted until Machias' forward, Amanda Allen (#8) attacked CM's defense and scored a goal.  Allen's goal was the start of a scoring streak for Machias; Brooklynne Lewis (#15) scored 2-goals within 5-minutes making the score 3-1, Machias.  With only 14:32 left in the first half, a penalty was called on CM which resulted in a direct kick for Machias; #22, Samantha Shaneybrook took the 30-yard kick and scored.  The first- half ended 4-1, Machias.

Tina Ferrara (#5) returned to the field for Machias after halftime and quickly scored a goal on CM's freshman goalie, Katherine McDonough (Auburn, ME).  CM's midfielders, Kayla Angelico (Lisbon, ME), Corrie Kinder (North Haverhill, NH) and Courtney Cotnoir (West Gardiner, ME) marked-up and pressured Machias' offense by playing 1-on-1 defense; this slowed down Machias' offensive play which stopped them from scoring another goal until the last 5-minutes of the game.

CM falls to 0-3 overall and 0-2 in the YSCC.  They will be back in action Friday, September 19th, when they host St. Josephs College (ME) JV.
