Auburn, ME - Jaden Arcelaschi from Winsted, CT has committed to play soccer here at Central Maine Community College.  A center back for The Gilbert School in Winsted, Jaden is a very versatile player with the experience and athleticism that will allow her to fill many roles for the Mustangs.  A four-year varsity player and team captain in her junior and senior years, Jaden was a second team, all-conference selection in her senior year.  A very vocal player with good leadership skills and strong work ethic, Jaden will add a lot to the Mustang defense but she will also very likely be seeing a lot of time in the midfield as well.   

Gilbert School coach, Katherine Serafini, commented, "Jaden is a tremendous leader and player.  In her first few years she moved between striker and outside mid depending on where we needed her because her speed and instincts were a real asset up front.   Last year we tried her as a center defender and it was the best choice we could have made.   Jaden proved to be a phenomenal center back because she's quick, has great instincts, and easily made scoring plays from the back, making runs when she saw the opportunity.  She really stepped up as a leader and went where we needed her to go.   She has shaped our younger players and has definitely set us up for future success."  

Head Women's Soccer Coach, Rob Rodriguez, says, "Jaden has been at the top of our recruiting list for a while now.  After getting her to campus a couple of times and watching her play in practice and scrimmages with other recruits and some of our returning players, we  were convinced she would be a key factor in helping turn this program into a highly competitive one.  I am a big believer in an attacking style of defense where our defenders carry the ball or make runs out of the back.  From what I have seen of Jaden on the field, she will fit very well into that style.  Her work ethic and athletic ability will allow her to adjust very easily to the faster pace of the college game."

According to Arcelaschi, "I chose CM because it has a great reputation and has the course of study I am looking to pursue.  I'm excited for soccer too.  I know they are looking to rebuild their soccer program and I'm thrilled to be taking part in that.  I'm happy that I'm getting the opportunity to take my skill to the next level.  I liked how close everything was on campus.  I won't have to worry about having to walk 15 minutes to get to class and the field is pretty much right outside the dorms. I played against a lot of competitive, talented teams in high school, and have proven that I can keep up with them.  I think that college soccer will test my abilities, but I am looking forward to learning from the other girls, and improving mentally and physically as a player.  I'm strong in a lot of different positions on the field, so I work to my full potential wherever I'm needed.  I'm also very vocal, and have good leadership skills."
