Women's Soccer Earns First Win Of The Season

Rutland, VT - The Mustangs traveled to Rutland, VT and earned their first win of the season with a 9-0 victory of College of Saint Joseph.

Central Maine took advantage of a rare seven day stretch with no games to nurse some injuries, and spend some recovery time focusing on improving the technical part of their game. The rest and skill work paid off in a relentless 90 minute attack on the Fighting Saints defense. The first and last goals of the game came off Jaden Arcelaschi corner kicks which were mishandled by the St Joseph goalkeeper. Arcelaschi would also score the second goal of the game off a nice through ball by Ellie Jasper, who would also score the Mustangs third goal of the game off a pass through the Fighting Saints defense by Megan Duval. Duval would then score the next, fourth goal, of the game on a pass through by Meghan Desjardins. Cheyenne Gray then scored the fifth Mustang goal, her first goal ever, on an assist by Jasper. The half ended 5-0.

The second half began much the same as the first with Amber Pritchard scoring her first goal of the season on passes by Jasper and Duval. Olivia Dooley then took the ball to the Fighting Saints net to score her first collegiate goal and the seventh Mustang goal of the game on another assist by Jasper. Dakota Goguen then replaced Shantel Camber in the Mustang net which allowed Camber to score her first collegiate goal from the midfield position on assists by Prichard and Sabbath Peridot.

The Lady Mustangs continue to improve with every game. They travel to South Portland on Wednesday, September 21st for their first conference game against SMCC.
