Women's Soccer lands first 2020 commitment

Auburn, ME - The Central Maine Mustangs Women's Soccer Team is happy to announce the commitment of Oak Hill High School midfielder, Julia Noël, for the 2020 season.

Mustangs Head Coach Rob Rodriguez commented, "We would watch Oak Hill play and we kept seeing this skilled midfielder constantly involved in the play on both sides of the ball. She was good at winning the 50/50 balls and her distribution to her teammates while under pressure was excellent. We have seen her in a wide variety of situations and what stood out to me, in addition to her composure under pressure, was her ability to make the right decision as to carrying the ball for a few touches to create space or distributing to a teammate quickly. She has the exact skill set that we require of our center mids."

Oak Hill High School Coach, Jeremy Young, had high praise for Noël, "Her technical ability paired with her field vision makes her teammates better.  She has shown repeatedly that she is willing to do whatever her team needs her to.  Julia's selfless commitment to those she plays with is seen in the way she plays defense (willing to sacrifice offensive potential to help solidify the defense), the way she celebrates the goals and assists of her teammates, and her efforts to help teammates in practice. She is a role model not only on game day but on the practice field. Her work ethic, excitement, creativity and her desire to compete and never back down from a challenge are inspiring."

On her commitment to Central Maine, Noël mentioned, "CM had been an option for me for a long time and after touring at the open house I found they have a great program for what I want to major in and I like that the campus is not too big. I think college soccer will be more intense with more competition and a lot faster paced but it is a challenge that I look forward to. I hope to bring to the team a positive attitude, communication, and be someone who is dependable and I am looking forward to becoming close to my new team."

Julia has been an accomplished player at Oak Hill.  A four-year varsity player, she was Second Team All-Conference her junior year, along with scoring the game winning PK in the Mountain Valley Conference championship game and First Team All-Conference selection this past season.  Also for this 2019 season Noël was a Maine Soccer Coaches Regional All-State selection as a center midfielder, an All-Academic selection, and Coaches Award winner for Oak Hill.  An honors student and National Honors Society member, she will be an excellent addition to the Mustang midfield.
