Women's Soccer adds to 2020 recruiting class

Auburn, ME - Head Women's Soccer Coach, Rob Rodriguez, is happy to announce the commitment of Leavitt Area High School midfielder and 2019 team MVP, Mckenna Redstone.

Leavitt varsity girls coach Avalon Amador had a lot to say in support of Mckenna committing to the Mustangs, "Mckenna has been an invaluable asset to the Leavitt Girls Soccer program the past four years. She has been a key player in the middle of the field, providing support and stability to our defense, while also being an anchor in creating opportunities and momentum for our offense. She was elected as team captain and has acted as the nucleus for our team providing leadership on and off the field. Her work ethic and knowledge of the game has helped guide our team's success the past four seasons. Mckenna is a great teammate who puts the team first in everything she does and wears her heart on her sleeve each time she steps on the field providing a contagious spark. She is always willing to play any role that the team may need and she does so with confidence and ease. She is a player who not only makes everyone around her better but she is continually working toward growing her own skill set and ability. Mckenna started and played the majority of each game in spite of a lingering injury where instead of letting it hold her back, forced her to keep her composure and work primarily with her left foot. By the end of the season, due to her perseverance, she became successful in establishing full duality with her left side, which was a huge asset to the team. Mckenna has the ability to unite our team in play and in spirit."

On her commitment to CM, Mckenna stated, "I wanted to be close to home and my family but also wanted to be able to play soccer. CM is not a huge school so it should not be overwhelming.  The new turf complex is a huge plus as well. I am looking forward to starting at a new school and meeting new people on the field and in classes. I know college soccer will be faster and more competitive than high school and I feel I can bring a positive attitude to the team and be a dependable teammate and player."

Coach Rodriguez was impressed when he saw her play and mentioned, "We watched her play against a very strong team and I really liked her ability to read the game and her willingness to battle for 50/50 balls against bigger opponents.  Mckenna is smaller than most center mids that we would look at but she plays with a fire in her and has a good head for the game. We saw the same qualities in her when we ran an indoor session that our incoming freshmen were invited to and she mixed in very well with our returning players so I know she can definitely play at the college level."

Mckenna comes to the Mustangs as a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference (KVAC) Honorable Mention All-Conference selection, a four-year varsity player, and team captain as a senior. She is an honor roll student and a member of the Olympia Snow Women's Leadership Institute. She will be studying in the Physical Fitness Specialist program at CM.
