Mustangs run fast at second Bowdoin Invitational meet

Brunswick, ME - The Mustang Men and Women took on a very competitive group of runners this past weekend at the Bowdoin Invitational II, and respectively ran extremely well, individually.  The Men took on the same 8000 Meter course as they did a few weeks ago while the Women stepped outside of their comfort zones and battled the longer 6000 Meter course, as opposed to their regular 5000 Meter course.  CM held strong against some very strong competition from Bowdoin, St. Edwards (TX), University of Sothern Maine, Endicott, UMaine-Farmington, Husson, Maine Maritime and UMaine-Presque Isle.

Kim Plummer finished in 65 place of 89 runners with a time of 30:15 while Kristen Carter finished close by in 67th place with a time of 30:51. Kim and Kristen both continue to improve their times and are prepping hard for this weekend's meet at St. Joseph's College.

The men's field also had 89 runners and Kyle Laroche led the Mustangs with a very fast race, finishing in 57th place with a time of 31:48 (6:23 mile pace) for the 8K course.  Troy Peterson followed finishing in  85th place with a time of 36:18 (7:18 mile pace) and Brandon Powell finished his first collegiate race with a time of 42:29 (8:32 mile pace) after battling with injuries throughout the season.

According to Head Cross Country Coach, Kevin Mitchell, " I am extremely happy to see the us continue to improve each week, specifically against such a strong set of competition.  Everyone is getting stronger and working harder and harder each week.  We have a tough practice week ahead as we head into the weekend at St. Joseph's College."
