AUBURN, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men's basketball team took care of Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) rivals Central Maine Community College (CMCC) 69-62 on Wednesday, Dec. 13.

In a game that featured nine lead changes and 10 ties, the Seawolves found themselves two points better at the half and held the opposition to just 29 points in the second.

With the game knotted at 58 apiece inside three minutes remaining, SMCC rattled off an 8-0 run and turned down the clock to 30 seconds. The Seawolves found and converted late free throw attempts to keep the Mustangs at bay and secure their fourth road victory of the season.

Four finished in double figures for SMCC, headlined by first-year forward Adam Savage's (Skowhegan, Maine) 18 points. Savage totaled nine rebounds and three blocks to complete his stat line. Sophomore Luke Briggs (Augusta, Maine) netted 17 points, and junior co-captain Thomas Martinotti (Harwinton, Conn.) and sophomore Cayman Warburton (Worcester, Mass.) added 15 and 12 respectively.

CMCC's Boston Caldwell led the way for the home team with 16 points; Jeremiah Simeon pulled down eight boards.

SMCC jumps to 8-4 overall, and 3-2 in league play. CMCC slips to 5-8, 1-5 YSCC.

The Seawolves will break for the holidays and return to play at home vs. MassBay Community College on Saturday, Jan. 6.
