Paul Smiths, NY ~ The Paul Smith's College men's basketball team were home this weekend, hosting Yankee Small College Conference foes NHTI on Saturday and Central Maine CC on Sunday. The Bobcats fell short in both contests, losing 74-68 to the Lynx and 80-64 to the Mustangs.
Saturday's contest with the Lynx was a tale of two halves. The Bobcats came out hot in the first half, outscoring the Lynx by four going into the break. But the Lynx would battle back and overpower the home team in the second frame. Paul Smith's College had four players land in double figures; Anthony Henson (Orlando, FL) and Elijiah Pratt ((Queens Village, NY) led the way with 15 points each, Sayvion Daniel (Roosevelt, NY) was a powerhouse coming off the bench for 14 points on 7/10 shooting, and Howard Turner (Brooklyn, NY) contributed 10 points and five assists. Henson also collected seven rebounds in the game.
Sunday's matchup was a battle to the finish, as the Bobcats made a gutsy late game run but just fell short to the #5 nationally ranked Central Maine Mustangs team. Henson found his long range touch in this game, sinking five triples and finishing with a game high 26 points. He also collected an impressive five steals in the contest. Daniel continued his effective weekend, going 6/7 from the field and dropping 12 points off the bench. He finished the weekend with a fantastic 76.5% shooting from the field. Steven Solórzano (Queens, NY) had a solid defensive performance with five steals as a substitute, while Turner added 12 points in the game. Senior guard Kareem Chapman (Bronx, NY) contributed seven points as a starter.
The Bobcats are back at home Friday night celebrating their seniors against Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. Tip off is at 7pm in the Saunders Gymnasium. Follow @smitty_nation on instagram for up-to-date news about Paul Smith's College Athletics.
