UNIONTOWN, Pennsylvania (JWU/YSCC) - #2 Central Maine Community College Mustangs move on in the USCAA Women's DII Playoffs with a 79-63 over JWU Charlotte .
The Mustangs jumped to an early lead with a 21-10 first quarter, and stretched the lead to 12 at the break, 40-28. The Wildcats responded in the third, closing the gap to 45-37. JWU got as close as 4 points in the final stanza, but Central Maine pulled away in the last period, outscoring the Wildcats 24-16.
JWU had a strong defensive effort in the defeat, holding CMCC to 36% shooting, including 4 of 32 from three, but the Mustangs managed 24 more field goal attempts than the Wildcats. JWU also held the rebounding advantage 55-42, and outscored Central Maine 22-11 in second-chance points.
Makenzie Beaudry led the Mustangs with 17 points and six rebounds. Eliza Brault had a double-double, scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds.
