Women's Basketball Loses Consolation Game To Central Maine

PETERSBURG, Va. - Penn State Schuylkill Women's Basketball fell to Central Maine in the consolation bracket of the USCAA national tournament, 65-59. 

Schuylkill began the contest on 14-5 run with 4:23 remaining in the first quarter. Schuylkill's lead was extended to 10 on a made 3-point field goal by Allison Crockett (Liverpool, PA / Greenwood High School). A pair of baskets during the final minute of the first brought Central Maine's deficit to 20-13 heading into the second quarter. Schuylkill shot 58 percent from the field in the opening period. 

Both teams went back and forth the majority of the second quarter, with Schuylkill leading by as many as 12 points during the period. Down 33-22 with 1:42 remaining in the second, Central Maine went on an 8-0 run to bring their deficit to 33-30 going into halftime. 

A 5-0 stretch by Central Maine to open the second half gave them a 35-33 lead with 7:44 to go in the third, their first of the contest. Back and forth action continued in the third as there was a total of 4 ties and 4 lead changes following a Schuylkill timeout with 7:44 to go in the period. Central Maine entered the final period of play up 49-45. 

A run by Central Maine to begin the fourth quarter extended their lead to 61-50 with 4:35 remaining in the contest. Schuylkill quickly brought their deficit back to single digits as Tajae Stevenson (Patterson, NJ / International High School) found Kassidy Ingram (Abington, PA / Trinity High School) for a layup on the very next possession. Out of a timeout, Schuylkill went on a 7-3 run to come within five with 1:25 remaining in regulation. With time on their side, Central Maine was able to hold onto their lead late and went on to defeat Schuylkill.

Nadia King (Harrisburg, PA / Susquehanna Township High School) led Schuylkill with 15 points. Ingram finished with 12 points and 6 rebounds. Crockett added 11 points and 5 rebounds in the loss.
