Lemont Furnace, PA- Softball splits double header with Central Maine Community College.
Fayette started down by 1 from the beginning of the 1st inning. Daelin Burnsworth was able to achieve 2 RBIs by driving in first year player, Julie Cooper and second year player, Madison Cyphert. Fayette continued to stay on top, getting two more runs in the bottom of the 6th. Fayette finished strong with a final score of 4-1. Daelin Burnsworth, a fourth year player for Fayette, finished with 3 RBIs and 2 hits. Julie Cooper also finished big with 2 hits and 2 runs.
For the second game, Fayette started out slow with CMCC up 2 runs to 0 heading into the bottom of the fourth. Fayette came alive scoring one, and then two in the fifth. The tie of 3-3 didn't hold long with Central Maine pulling ahead in the seventh with a final score of 4-3. Despite the loss, Sophia Zalar led the team with 2 hits, 1 run, and a stolen base.
Fayette will play at Thiel College on Tuesday with start times of 3:30 and 5:30 P.M.
