SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men's basketball team completed the regular season sweep of the Mustangs from Central Maine Community College (CMCC) on Sophomore/Junior Recognition Day, Wednesday, Feb. 14.

Prior to the contest, Head Coach Matt Richards recognized seven graduating players for their dedication and leadership to the program. Liam O'Neil (Hudson, N.H.), Randy Vasquez (Methuen, Mass.), Thomas Martinotti (Harwinton, Conn.), Cayman Warburton (Worcester, Mass.), Jay Hawkes (Poland, Maine), Luke Briggs (Augusta, Maine), and Andrew St. Hilaire (North Yarmouth, Maine) were all met at half court by coaches and families in honor of their accomplishments as Seawolves.

Behind 30-27, Martinotti converted a layup and first-year Adam Savage (Skowhegan, Maine) finished the first half with a dunk. The Seawolves clung to a one-point advantage at the break, much to do with Warburton's efficient 4-5 shooting performance.

SMCC opened the second on a 9-0 run—a margin that would be sustained the rest of the way. Vasquez accounted for 10 of SMCC's 41 second-half points to help the Seawolves to their fourth consecutive victory.

Warburton and Vasquez both finished with 14 points; Savage and first-year Charlie Houghton (Dixfield, Maine) scored 11 apiece.

CMCC's Boston Caldwell topped all scorers in the game with 21 on 7-13 shooting. Wyatt Hathaway totaled 15 points and knocked down 4-11 from beyond the arc.

SMCC climbs to 19-6 overall, 10-3 in conference play. CMCC moves to 11-13, 6-7 YSCC.

The Seawolves round out their regular season on Saturday, Feb. 17 when they travel to Vermont State University- Randolph. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
