CONCORD, N.H.—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men's basketball team suffered a 65-55 loss to the #6-seeded Mustangs from Central Maine Community College in the semifinal round of the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) playoff tournament on Saturday, Mar. 2.

Prior to tip-off, the all-conference team was announced. Junior co-captain Thomas Martinotti (Harwinton, Conn.) landed on second team and sophomore forward Luke Briggs (Augusta, Maine) was named Honorable Mention.

Martinotti and Briggs combined for 16 of SMCC's 29 first half points; Martinotti flushed a three-pointer as time expired to even the score at the break.

The Seawolves opened the second half on a 6-0 run, a lead that would be erased on an 8-1 run by the Mustangs midway through the period. SMCC managed just four made free throws inside the final five minutes—production that was more than doubled by CMCC.

Briggs topped all scorers in the game with 18. Martinotti finished with 13 points and four assists and first-year forward Adam Savage (Skowhegan, Maine) logged 11 points and five rebounds.

CMCC's Logan Myers came off the bench to lead his team with 17 points on 6-8 shooting.

The Mustangs eventually lost 80-78 to the #1-seeded Lynx from NHTI in the championship game on Sunday, Mar. 3.
