CMCC men win soccer opener

Auburn, ME (CMCC) - Central Maine Community College hosted Vermont Technical College christening their new athletic complex under the lights.

The Mustangs took off at a gallop finding the net early. Junior Dalton Wing (Forward) led the charge and hustled his way through the Vermont Tech defensive line scoring first and assisted by sophomore Alex Thompson (Defense), Garret Addison(Forward) added to the tally two minutes later assisted by freshman Oliver Grant (Midfield) . Play continued, and as the end of the half was drawing near, freshman Midfielder Mnwar Dubai (Midfield) received a well timed ball from Alex Thompson (Defense) on the run and finished to put the score 3-0 Mustangs going into the second half.

At the Start of the second half CM came out ready to hold their ground. This lead to some success early from Joel Masikini (Midfield) netting a precise pass from Dalton Wing (Forward). As the game progressed, Freshman Asad Abukar was inspired and proceeded to cleverly  maneuver his way through a physical VTC defense and place the ball in the back of the net scoring the Mustangs fifth and final goal.

After the game, Head Coach Bryan Wallace had this to say about his teams strong showing, "I was pleased with the play from our defense and midfield, I think we can spread the ball a little faster and get our wingers involved more."
