CONCORD, N.H.—The #3 –seeded Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men's soccer team concluded its season on Saturday, Oct. 23 suffering a 2-1 loss to #2 Central Maine Community College (CMCC) in the semifinal round of the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) championships at NHTI.

Prior to the contest first-year Eriksen Shea (Freeport, Maine) and Dylan Weyeneth (St. Agatha, Maine) were honored as YSCC All-Conference selections—part of an 11-man team.

Shea continued his superb season with his 15th goal of the season (34 points) less than six minutes into kickoff to give the SeaWolves an early one score advantage; CMCC's Mohmed Matan evened the game before the break.

SMCC's defensive unit kept the high-powered Mustang offense at bay for another 40 minutes until the team's leading goal scorer Suab Nur put away the game winner at 72:35.

Sophomore goalkeeper Joshua Nagle (Biddeford, Maine) faced eight shots to log six saves in 90 minutes of work. SMCC outshot the opposition 13-12.

Head Coach Brian Dougher commented, "Based on our definition, this was yet another successful season. Although we didn't win the last game of the year, I'm proud of the way we handled ourselves, the way we battled until the end. I'm looking forward to returning a core group and making our way back to Concord again next year."

The SeaWolves finish 6-8-2 overall and 4-1-1 in conference play.

CMCC went on to win the its first ever YSCC title 3-2 in overtime against Paul Smith's College.
