Mustangs Slay Tommie's

Auburn, ME – Elijah Barbour (Warrenton, VA) came off the bench to hit for 14 points Sunday to lead the Mustangs to their second victory in two days defeating the Tommie's from St Thomas University 60-46 in game two of the Can Am Basketball Tournament.

CM jumped on the visitors early taking a double-digit lead in the first half. Constant full court pressure utilizing all players propelled the Mustangs to a healthy 29-18 lead going into halftime.  Mixing and matching all bench players in the second half wore down the Tommie's allowing CM to cruise to a victory.

Along with Barbour's 14-point total, he also hauled down six rebounds in only 18 minutes of play.  Josh Chery (Weymouth, MA) dominated the paint taking down nine rebounds and added 4 points.  Corey David (Ocala, FL) played a steady floor game running the Mustang attack hitting for 13 points and added 3 rebounds.  David's defensive tenacity in the second half opened up what was an 8-point lead and extended it to 20 points.

The Mustangs begin their season at 2-0 and host NJCAA foe Holyoke Community College Friday night before opening up Yankee Conference play next Sunday with Vermont Tech.
