Mustangs win two in Concord

Concord,NH - Men's Basketball traveled to NHTI this weekend to participate in the annual Edward Jones Tip-Off Tournament held by the Lynx. On Friday, they ground out a 67-59 win over Williamson Trade, and followed that up with a 91-77 win over Northern Essex CC on Saturday.

On Friday, 15 Mustangs saw the floor, with 10 of them finding the scoring column. They were lead by Nicolas Dierynck (Belgium) with 21 points. Saikwon Williams (Norwalk, CT) was the only other Mustang in double-figures; he scored 14 while pulling down 10 rebounds for the double-double. 

Vontangoe Donzo led the Mechanics with 17 points and a game-high 11 rebounds.

CM forced 21 turnovers, 13 of which via steals. Malik Farley (Orlando, FL) led the team with 3 steals.

After a quick turnaround, the Mustangs then took on Northern Essex CC on a Saturday matinee. 

Dierynck led the away again with 24 points on 9 of 16 shooting, which included 6 triples. Four other starters in double-figures including, Williams with 16, and Mark McDonald (Orlando, FL) and AJ Cunningham (Australia) with 11 apiece. Cunningham also pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds for the double-double.

The Knights were led by Scottie Austin who connected for 21 points.

Once again, the pesky Mustang defense forced 22 turnovers, while out-rebounding the Knights by +15.

With the win, CM improves to 3-0 overall, and will be back in action on Sunday, their 3rd game in 3 days, when they host Vermont Tech on Sunday (3pm), in their first conference game of the season.
