Biddeford, ME - The CM softball team took two games from the University of New England club team in a non-conference twin-bill.

Game 1: W, 2-1

The offense came out flat for the first four innings but the pitching of freshman, Megan Theriault (Lewiston, ME) kept the Mustangs in the game. Theriault led the way with 6 strike outs and an array of pitches that kept UNE Club off balance to pick up her first collegiate win.

The Mustangs finally got on the board in the sixth when Alex Bessey (Jay, ME) cranked a double into right center and then was knocked in by Tabbie Tlumac's (Reidfield, ME) single. The Mustangs scored again when Marah Hall (Madison, ME) was knocked in by Skyler Henry (Waterford, CT).

The Nor'Easters then got one back in the 6th and Theriault did the rest with a 6 pitch 1-2-3 inning in the seventh to secure the win. The Mustangs ended the game with six hits

The Mustangs went all seven innings limiting UNE to just one run on four hits.

Game 2: W, 6-5

The Mustangs again turned to Theriault to take the circle after her stellar performance in game one. Theriault continued her performance with another 5 strike outs with her most important K coming with the bases loaded getting the batter to watch strike 3 go by in the third inning.

UNE Club scored first, but the Mustangs picked up where right where they left off at the end of game one to keep pace. With the score tied Cagney O' Brian (Newcastle, ME) jacked a 230-ft two-run homerun to deep center in the sixth putting the Mustangs up 4-2. CM would never relinquish the lead.

Theriault tossed her second complete game of the day to pick up her second win. The right-hander gave up five runs, over eight hits.

The result pushes CMCC to 2-8 for the season.

Head Coach Bruce Robertson commented, "Today we limted our errors and helped our pitcher limit her pitch count. Megan really held her own today helping us stay in the game. We stayed up and kept energy in our dugout, which helped us get back in gear after starting game one a flat. Once we got our first run we were able to keep things moving in the right direction for the rest of the day."

The Mustangs next play conference rivals Southern Maine Community College on April 16th, when they travel to South Portland for double-header action at 3:30/5:30.
