Auburn, ME - Kasie Maloney, a 6'1" forward from Concord, NH has committed to attend CM this fall and play women's basketball. Maloney, who is a New Hampshire State Scholar will study Criminal Justice in hopes of eventually going into law school.  

Head Women's Basketball Coach, Andrew Morong, on Maloney's commitment, "Another stellar student-athlete out of our second favorite state, New Hampshire. As a basketball player, Kasie has not even started to scratch the surface; she has a tremendous amount of potential that we are thrilled to help develop. She is tall, long, and athletic, and will be able to play inside and out for us. Kasie is already a very good basketball player, but I think by November we will start seeing flashes of something very, very special. Off the court, Kasie is very driven and goal orientated. She fits in with everything we do here at the college, and I can see her, even as a freshman, helping hold everyone on the team accountable which speaks a lot to her maturity level. Adding Kasie to our front court along with Ahna (McCusker), Elena (Tool), Patricia (Vazuez Diaz) in this year's recruiting class, to our returning forwards, Brooke (Reynolds), Jordyn (Reynolds), Eraleena (Gethers-Hairston) gives us a very long, athletic, and dynamic presence in the front court. Watch out!"

Maloney, who set the Concord High School girls basketball record for career average blocks per game, committed to CM because, "Every time I took the two and half hour drive I was always excited to get there and be with the people I felt welcomed by and enjoyed being around. I also chose CM because of the tuition, their out of state cost is lower than New Hampshire's in-state cost, and with law school eventually keeping me in school longer than most people it is important that I save as much money up front that I can. I love the campus and how it's right next to downtown, but tucked away in a beautiful setting. Everything is right next to campus and very convenient. I am really looking forward to starting my college basketball career, everyone on the team has a commitment and drive to get better on a daily basis. While this is not new to me individually, it is new for me to be on a team that is so incredibly committed from top to bottom. Everyone is so talented and we will all be able to depend on one another, on the court of off. I think my openness to learning and my willingness to communicate and be aggressive will help the team this winter."
