Blais added to Women's Basketball coaching staff

Auburn, ME - Head Women's Basketball Coach, Andrew Morong, is pleased to announce the hiring of former CM point guard, Kristina Blais, to the women's basketball coaching staff. During her two years as captain of the women's basketball team, Blais led the Mustangs to a 63-3 overall record, and a perfect 36-0 record in the Yankee Conference. Her teams won two regular season conference championships, two conference tournament championships, and twice competed in the USCAA National Tournament – playing in the national championship final each year.

After helping the 2017 team become the first women's college basketball program in Maine to win a national championship, Blais led the Mustangs back to the national title game during the 2017-18 season after winning 28-straight games. During the 2018 campaign, she was named YSCC 2nd Team All-Conference and a USCAA Honorable Mention All-American. An excellent student who has earned honors or high honors every semester, Blais was named a USCAA Academic All-American, and has twice been named to the Yankee Conference All-Academic Team. Additionally, she was named the CMCC Student-Athlete of the Year.

Coach Morong commented, "We are thrilled that Kristina is joining our coaching staff. She brings a wealth of knowledge not just about the game of basketball, but about being a leader, and a female student-athlete. She is a role model for all young women and girls throughout our Lewiston-Auburn community, and possesses the drive that we want all women in our program striving for."

Blais added, "CM will forever be my home, and for me, this is bigger than basketball. I am beyond excited to give back to the program that helped shaped me on and off the court. Proud is an understatement of how I feel about the program's growth throughout the years, and I am grateful to be apart of helping keeping that rolling. I was just in these player's shoes two years ago, I know all about the grind, the struggle, and the success that comes with being a CM Lady Mustang. The girls we get to work with this year are special, and coaching with Andrew is something I always saw myself doing. We have an amazing staff with Tianna and Abby, and we are ready for the season to start!"

Blais is completing her bachelor's degree in Business Management at the University of Southern Maine, and is the owner and operate of Blais Hoops Academy.
