Auburn, ME - After a back and forth first half, the Lady Mustangs put up 38 points in the 3rd quarter to pull away and rout the Knights of Vermont Tech, 91-47. The relentless and disciplined defense of the Mustangs wore out the Knights from the opening tip. All 14 Mustangs who suited up for the game played at least 9 minutes, with 12 of them finding the scoring column.
Freshman, Makenzie Beaudry (Dover Foxcroft, ME) recorded another double-double woth a team-high 12 points and 10 rebounds. Rebecca Davila (El Paso, TX), Natalie Thurber (Wells, ME), and Eliza Brault (Ossipee, NH) all contributed 10 points with Brault pulling down 7 rebounds, and Davila dishing out 5 assists. Freshman, Alyssa Everett, tallied 11 points and 8 rebounds in another solid game.
Abby Nadeau (Wales, ME) was relentless for the Lady Mustangs, she recorded 7 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 steals.
Kennedy Henderson and Kimah Stribling led the Knights with 11 points a piece.
CM forced 41 turnovers, including 8 offensive fouls. The disciplined defense cause immense foul trouble for the Knights that they could not overcome.
With the win CM improves to 3-0 overall and 1-0 in the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC). They will be back in action on Tuesday night, when they travel to Augusta to take on the Moose of UMaine Augusta in another YSCC matchup.
