Tool Time Blog - 5/11/2019

Hey Everyone,

Elena (also known as Jolly the Green Giant, thanks Beka) here writing to you from a very uncomfortable chair at Boston Logan Airport. As coach came by to say goodbye to me over the weekend we agreed that I would be keeping everyone updated on the women’s basketball team over the summer! I will be getting some good inside information from returning players, incoming freshmen, and mostly myself as I will be attempting to complete the conditioning program this summer while travelling the world and working at my old high school.

So to start this blog... Saturday, May 11th:

I am going home today! Not only does that mean I have a long day of flights ahead, it also means I survived my first year at CMCC. I will be honest, school really was not that hard compared to the conditioning program at the beginning of the year. If you survive conditioning, they really cannot throw anything at you that you cannot handle.

Going home means that I have to sit in an airport for a while. For those of you who have never been, the airport is a weird and awful smelling place. Especially when you have been sitting in the same chair for about 4 hours. To the left of me you can buy a duty free motorcycle, exactly what I was looking for… I might just buy it. To my right is a man wearing neon leggings with a pair of basketball shorts over them. Not my kind of fashion choice, but you do what you got to do sir.

American culture continues to baffle me, especially as it is coming to a full bloom here at Logan Airport. Never in my life would I have expected to see so many people willingly wear crocs. Everyone, and I mean everyone, seems to own a pair. What is considered a horrible fashion mistake at home (even owning them), appears to be a must-have here in Maine. Another thing I cannot quite wrap my head around is breakfast burritos, who wants to eat that in the morning. I guess I will have to keep adjusting next year.

Going home also means that I get to see my family again! Now everyone’s parents have been very nice to me, especially Steve and Andrea (Thank You Guys!), but no one compares to my own mom and dad (and my sister Renkse). I spoke to them on the phone today; my dad has even been making my favorite food, Rendang. I think he had some insight after I came home for winter break and ate almost everything we had because airplane food is just plain disgusting.

Now my first flight of the day is finally starting to board, so everything I own, apparently even my camera, has to be put in airplane mode. I hope you all enjoyed reading and if there are any players or topics you want me to cover let me know!

XOXO Gossip Girl

Just kidding, hope you all have a wonderful summer!
