Women’s Soccer to Hold Annual Summer Recruit Day

Auburn, ME - The Central Maine Mustangs Women's Soccer team will be holding their annual Summer Recruit Day on Monday, July 22nd from 9:30am to 3:30pm. This is a free event for high school players, and their families, who want to see what a college soccer program looks and feels like.

The day will begin at 9:30 am with a campus tour for those who have not previously visited. Players who have already had a tour in the past few months may arrive at 11 am. In addition to the academic buildings the tour will include a look at the Mustang Fitness Center, the new Esports Arena, dorms, and the progress of the construction of the new turf athletic complex.

Following the campus tour, the visitors will hear from the Learning & Advising staff about the academic rigor of being a collegiate student-athlete and the support services on campus. There will also be a presentation by the strength & conditioning staff about what a college soccer strength program looks like.

The college will provide lunch will be provided for all and then the group will hear from returning players as part of a panel discussion about the differences between high school and college on and off the field. At 2 pm, the visiting players will join the returning players and incoming freshmen on the field to participate in a "typical" in-season soccer practice to get a feel for what we do and how we coach.

Mustangs Head Coach Rob Rodriguez commented, "Our Summer Recruit Day has become one of our more popular events because the team is genuinely excited to be back together and on the field for part of a day after not seeing each other for a couple of months so they tend to add a lot of energy to the event. The part of our Recruit Day, in addition to the field session, that we get the most comments on, particularly from parents, is the discussion with the team about the difference between high school and college. The players are funny, extremely honest about their experience at CM, and I usually have to put a time limit on them because they will talk all day about the life of the student-athlete."

Players who would like to attend are asked to respond by email, text, or Facebook or Instagram and let us know how many from your family are attending so we can plan for the appropriate number.
