Central Maine Community College Welcomes New Esports Coordinator, Andrew Garza

Auburn, Maine - Central Maine Community College (CMCC) proudly announces the appointment of Andrew J. Garza as the new Esports Coordinator. With a rich background in esports, Garza brings a wealth of experience as a player, coach, and analyst to his new role.

Garza's journey in esports began in 2013, and since then, he has made significant contributions to the industry. He has earned recognition for his accessible services to up-and-coming players and unknown talent. His impressive track record includes various roles such as Esports Caster/Analyst for American Gaming Network and Esports OpenTour, as well as serving as a Graduate Assistant at Cumberland University.

Hailing from Mystic, CT, Garza graduated from Robert E. Fitch High School before pursuing higher education. He holds an Associate of Arts in General Studies from Navarro College and a Bachelor of Arts in History from St. Edwards University. He is currently finishing a Master of Arts in Sports Management at Cumberland University.

Garza's achievements in esports are remarkable, including being a CollegeCOD Academy National Champion as a player for St. Edward's University and a 2-time Community Voted College COD Academy 1st Team All-Star. He also boasts a 2x Call of Duty National Champion title, winning in 2022 as a player and in 2023 as a coach.

In his vision for CMCC's esports program, Garza aims to establish one of the largest and most successful programs in both CMCC and esports history. He plans to make CMCC a top destination for aspiring esports athletes by fostering a culture of academic and athletic excellence. Garza's ultimate goal is to facilitate the largest graduating and transfer classes of esports talent to other universities.

Expressing his enthusiasm for his new role, Garza said, "I am super excited to begin this new chapter of my life here at CMCC as the Esports Coordinator. As a former player and current coach of esports, it is a privilege to represent and perform in this role for such a prestigious academic and athletic college."
