Auburn, ME – Playing their third game in three days, the visiting Mustangs reached deep and dropped the Vermont Technical College Knights 64-60 in men's basketball action Sunday.  CM traveled to Machias Friday night, hosted Paul Smith Saturday, and boarded the bus for Vermont at 6am Sunday for another five-hour drive.  Most teams would wear down and go through the motions of playing-- not the Mustangs.  Utilizing sixteen players all weekend long, the Mustangs managed to continue full court pressure for forty minutes today. 

CM jumped out to a 15-6 lead early on and took a 34-25 lead into halftime.  Holding any team to 25 points for a half is unusual but the boys committed to play defense first.  Outside of a VTC 15-0 run in the second half, CM controlled most of the game taking 65 shots to VTC's 57 and out rebounded the bigger Knights by a 40-37 margin.

With fourteen seconds remaining in the game, and the Knights in the offensive end attempting to tie up the contest, Elijah Barbour made a sensation play diving head long to tip the ball from the ball handler to secure the victory.

Charles Cedre led the squad's defensive effort. Cedre recorded four charges today adding to his team leading eleven with six of those coming this past weekend. 

Despite four of the starting five shooting a combined 2-20 in the game, CM's depth kicked in.  Cedre and Barbour came off the bench to hit for 34 total points.  Barbour shot 7-11 and chalked up 19 points and Cedre hit 4-8 with 15 total points.  Josh Chery again dominated the paint ripping down 12 rebounds to go along with his 11 points.  Great contributions from Zavier Roman, Rodney Theodore, and the steady floor leadership of Corey David (7 rebounds, 5 assists) added to the win. 

The 10-2 Mustangs travel to SMCC Wednesday night for an 8pm tipoff to finish out the semester.
