Mustangs get Walloped on the Road 96-63

Albany, NY – The Mustangs always start the season with 18-20 players.  People, and even the players sometimes question why we take so many kids on a team which can only play five at a time.   The players found out this weekend as the squad took 10 players on an away trip to Albany, New York and dropped a 96-63 game against Bryan Stratton College.  Between injuries to four of the five starters and three more players on the bench who are sick, the remainder of squad limped into Albany, played hard, but were simply beat by the better team that night.  Players who normally may play four minutes a game were given primary roles to show their skill.

The Bobcats jumped out to a early 18-4 four lead, shot a stellar 6-10 from the three point line, and contested every CM possession to walk into halftime with a solid 51-27 lead.   The second half was more of the same with the Bobcats keeping up the pressure.

Nicolas Dieynck and Malik Farley both contributed on both ends of the court.  Nic hit for 20 points on a 6-10 shooting performance and Farley hit for 12 points and ripped down 9 rebounds.

The home team controlled most of the contest with Jamil Hood (14-16) shooting and supported by a strong cast.  Hood also took down 9 rebounds.

The injuries are allowing some players the opportunity to step up and they are taking advantage of the opportunity.  Big man Tobias Jense played big in the paint holding his own.  Luke McCusker rebounded well cashing in 9 rebounds.

CM travels to Unity College Wednesday for a 6pm tilt against the Rams.

The loss brings CM to a 14-5 record.
