Auburn, ME - The Central Maine Mustangs continue to add to their incoming freshmen class with the addition of Oak Hill High School forward and Mountain Valley Conference (MVC) All-Star Honorable Mention Macie Fletcher. Fletcher will add premier club experience to the Mustangs squad and will be joining former Raider teammates Jade Sturtevant (second year) and newly committed freshmen Julia Noël and Josie Hackett on the Central Maine roster.

Mustangs head coach Rob Rodriguez commented, "We saw Macie play a couple of times last spring with her premier team and several times for her high school team. She was very consistent from game to game and that does not always happen with players her age. She handles the ball well and her distribution on the attack is very good so I know she will play well in combination with the players we already have. Her familiarity with other players on the team should make for a smooth transition to the college game."

Oak Hill High School varsity girls coach Jeremy Young added, "Her positive attitude is infectious. She is a great teammate and leader and has an appreciation and joy for the game. She's becoming more inventive each time she steps on the field and her technical ability is quickly catching up with her vision.    Her off-season work with her club team last year demonstrated that she is just beginning to understand her potential."

Central Maine United Premier Club coach Eric Warn also added, "Macie has brought enthusiasm and a true team-player spirit to her journey that has seen her soccer IQ develop into a real strength for her in helping her team at CMU. She has a willingness to execute coach direction in a variety of game scenarios in a manner that can be infectious to her teammates as well and I am excited to see her carry that forward in her commitment to CM."

Fletcher, who chose Central Maine, a school that both of her parents went to, commented, "After going on many college tours, it had more of a home feel and everyone was so much nicer. Being a committed high school and club player, I am excited to play with others who understand the mental part of the game in addition to the physical part. I know playing college soccer will not be easy but I am ready for the challenge with an awesome team that loves the game as much as I do. I will bring quick decision making on the field, along with positivity, intensity, and drive."

Fletcher is an honor student who will be studying in the Life Sciences Program.
