Auburn, ME - Just like our softball program, our Men's Baseball team took to the field this Fall for some action with a loaded schedule including 26 games. They were able to participate in the New England Club Baseball Association (NECBA) which they saw great success in as a first-time participant. By playing in so many games, recruiting pitching and versatility was key for Head Coach Ryan Palmer. "The coaches have really recruited well during the off-season, which leaves us with our largest roster in recent memory," stated Athletic Director, Dave Gonyea. In their first action of the Fall season, the Mustangs swept Quincy College with an 8-4 win in the first game and a 6-4 win in the second game. Those wins came in front of a nice sized home crowd which made Athletic Director Gonyea, very pleased, "It is a new era in CM Baseball and really refreshing. I am pleased with the commitment from the kids and our coaching staff."
The Fall season continued to be filled with accomplishments for the team including a huge win against conference rival SMCC for the first time since 2016. The Mustangs were able to power through the NECBA playoffs and earn a trip to the championship game against the Fairfield University club team. Unfortunately, they would fall to Fairfield University 6-0 and ended their season 20-6. Although the ending wasn't what they wanted, the players and coaches were proud of their accomplishments and the improvement they showed throughout. "Our goal this fall was to determine when our season was over. We did just that," said coach Ryan Palmer. The Mustangs will be back in action in April as they look to take on the teams in the Yankee Conference.
